DNA Extraction Methods
The basics
DNA extraction is frequently a basic step for many genomic research and diagnostic procedures, e.g. to identify viruses and bacteria and diagnose diseases. The first attempt to extract DNA was done in 1869 by Friedrich Miescher. Now there are many experimental protocols designed for optimal extraction of clean DNA material and other nucleic acids from diverse biological and environmental samples. But the basic idea is very simple - you can even extract DNA at home! Firs of all, watch this video about DNA extraction steps :)
